Gray Law Tacoma Elder Law Update

What is Elder Law? What are Guardianships, Probates, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Special Needs Trusts? What is Medicaid Planning? Why does anybody be they by definition a vulnerable adult over the age of 65 or be they a younger family member responsible by default if you will for resolving the various issues associated with growing older, becoming more physically frail, and declining in mental and physical ability.

There is nothing scary about these subjects and over the course of the next several months we will endeavor to shed light on these issues facing all families and how to best tackle them. Suffice it to say that there is (as there always is) one simple solution to avoiding almost any future problem that many arise... That is to plan ahead, anticipate what may occur, know the ramifications, and be prepared accordingly. Obviously, the questions is how can this be done and why do you have to have an attorney involved?

The simple answer is that just as you would call an electrician to fix your electrical issue or a plumber to fix your pipes or a physical to deal with your health issues it is an Elder Law attorney who can help you in the area of Guardianships, Wills, Probate, Vulnerable Adult Protection Actions, Medicaid Planning, and other Trust issues.

What should the first step be? Contact an Elder Law attorney, schedule a meeting, ask as many questions as you can, and find out what makes sense for your family when it comes to preparing the appropriate documentation ahead of time before problems strike. Ponder this for there will be more later.
